Influencer

Can anybody be an influencer?
I think it starts with two simple words that have very complex meaning and require attention and dedication. These words are HONESTY and RESPECT.

An influencer provides honest information.
An influencer shows respect even to those that may disagree with opinions, insights and even sometimes facts that are stated.
An influencer provides continuous thought leadership in areas of expertise.
An influencer demonstrates the desire to learn, which usually offers more content and dialogue.

I had the honor of meeting such an influencer.
Mr. Shloime Zionce is an influencer and a true gentleman.

How does this relate to Customs and Cooking?
Well, I met Shloime at a restaurant, having just enjoyed a nice birthday dinner with my wife.

Battered cauliflower. A must!
I have had this at least three times at three different restaurants and will hopefully try to replicate in an upcoming cooking challenge that I would like to undertake.
Grilled salmon with veggies was also delicious and, surprisingly, is my current go to menu choice on most outings.
So that is the cooking part.

How does this relate to Customs?
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced proposed changes to regulations surrounding Customs valuation.
Sounds complex? IT IS!!!

Besides for the upcoming Release 2 of the CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) project, these proposed changes to valuation regulations is a game changer to Customs compliance, regulations and administrative policy to extents that we have not seen in a decade.

In an upcoming post, I will try to outline these proposed changes in a bit more detail. However, this post is about influencers. The post started with a question asking if anyone can be an influencer?

CBSA has an open period to receive comments from any and all parties. (Deadline to submit is July 26, 2023.)
Comments can be provided via:

These comments are essential and the more corporations, associations, individuals that submit comments the more attention CBSA and the Government of Canada will give to these changes.

This is the time for all of us to be influencers.
Provide the Government and CBSA how these changes may affect businesses and the economy.

Now is the chance to become an influencer!
